Update: Suspicious package that prompted evacuation in Canora neutralized

CANORA – Update: The suspicious package has been neutralized and Main Street is now open to traffic. Please note that smaller areas may be cordoned off as investigation continues. 

Canora RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit, Forensic Identification Services and Saskatoon Provincial General Investigation Section.

Origianl story: Canora RCMP are investigating a suspicious package discovered behind a business on the 300 block of Main Street, prompting evacuations and heightened security measures in the area.

As a precaution, nearby businesses have been evacuated, while local schools and day cares have activated their hold and secure protocols.

Canora RCMP ask members of the public to avoid the Main Street area between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue at this time. 

The origin and contents of the package have not yet been determined. The investigation continues with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit. Updates will be provided when available.
