We start off our news this week on a sad noteSympathy is extended to the family of John Freed who passed away at 105 years of age. John was born January 21, 1906, attended school and later farmed in the Freedhome district south of Dubuc. At well over 90 years of age, he moved into the town of Dubuc & officially retired. It was only a year ago in December that John moved from Dubuc to Swan River to reside in a nursing home close to his son, Paul and Kathy. A memorial service is planned for later this year. He is survived by his 3 children, Maurie, Raymond, Paul and their families.

Diane (Nielsen) Laughrane from Burnaby, BC has been back home visiting with her mother, Cis Nielsen, at the Morris Lodge in Bangor, while staying with brother, Audrey and Peter Nielsen. She also visited with other relatives and friends in the area, attended coffee row a few times and took in the potluck supper. Diane's sister, Louise and Bob Hershmiller from Waldron also attended the potluck and did some visiting with local folks.
The monthly community potluck supper was held at the Hut on Wed., March 9 with a good attendance of 27 people. Joe Kaczur and Ron McAlpine were invited to lead the line to dish up as they were both celebrating birthdays that day. The supper was delicious and bountiful as usual. Speaking of coffee, it has been a busy place at coffee row this week. Sharon Clark treated 14 people to coffee and cake on Saturday and Nina Moller had 16 happy coffee-rowers when she brought scones and bought coffee on Tuesday. Congrats, girls and a happy year ahead. There have been a lot of smiles at coffee-row lately and rumor has it that there is still at least one more birthday yet this month a dignitary's, no less!
Thinking of you wishes are going out to Terry Loutitt, Vincent Clark, Donna (Allan) Legacy, Tom Brown,
Al Schick, Jo Stokes and Kim (Toth) Ives who have all been under the weather of late. We have had a few days of warm weather and it is actually raining a bit while the news is being typed; so, we hope that spring will be here soon and everyone will feel better.
