ELBOW — Volunteer fire departments and first responders all across the province can always use some new equipment and training.

My Mutual Insurance, a company based in Waldheim, recognizes that need, and has decided to award a number of fire and first response teams with new gear and training opportunities.

This annual program, called Geared Up, sees departments and crews from all over the province apply to the campaign and from there, the company narrows the list down to a handful of beneficiaries. The 2025 campaign saw a total of 30 departments apply, and from there, the company narrowed it down to five who will receive funding.

This year, the five recipients of the Geared Up campaign are the Elbow Volunteer Fire Department, Lipton Volunteer Fire Department, Stoughton/Tecumseh Fire and Rescue, RM of Scott Medical First Responders, and the Edam Turtle River Fire Department.

To date, My Mutual Insurance has provided over $100,000 to such departments and emergency crews.
