CONQUEST - A special recognition project being carried out by the Conquest Fire Department is honouring past members who served with the dedicated crew in years past.
Eyecatching steel markers bearing the logo of the department are being placed at the gravesides of firefighters from years and even decades ago, highlighting an effort to remember and recognize the work and dedication shown by Conquest's firefighters throughout a series of generations.

Crafted by Metalman Art & Design near Saskatoon, the markers are sure to grab attention by those passing through the Fertile Valley Cemetery that's located north of Conquest.

Those being memorialized with this unique project include a number of past firefighters and chiefs, including Al Barrington, Jack Ruttle, Jackie Jones, Roger Derdall, Rollie Reynolds, Cecil McAdam, Tom Porter, Ray Dallas, Bill Blandford, Russ Wyatt, Stan Wyatt, Hughie Lemon, Les Lemon, Brian Adair, and Clint Sibbald. With more markers set to be created for the department, more names will be recognized in the immediate future, and it's important to note that not all of the names being recognized in this effort are laid to rest at the Fertile Valley Cemetery.
On site at the cemetery on Friday evening, May 2 helping to place the markers were dedicated volunteers and those with close ties to the department, consisting of both former and current members: Randy Lemon, Cal Clark, Lloyd Tyler, Bob Silverthorn, Craig Barrington, Bob McRae, Connor Ogilvie, Ray Amy, Ralph Johnson, Lindsay Ogilvie, Neil Joyes, Doug Lemon, Doug Sibbald, and Doug Ball.
