Sturgis Composite honours its graduating class of 2025

Fifteen graduates from the Sturgis Composite School were honored with traditional awards ceremony.

STURGIS — Sturgis Composite School acknowledged its Grade 12 graduates in a special graduation ceremony held at the school on June 13.

Graduates were surrounded by family and close friends as they celebrated their achievements.

Members of the 2025 graduating class were Nickolas Kucharyshen, Daemian Schotts, Mason Babiuk, Cole Masley, Jake Soltys, Cole Secundiak, Kimmuel Albarracin, Jordyn Rakochy, Brooklyn Christopher, Jailin Soltys, Natalie Gregory, Shaylyn Karcha, Tessa Stack, Nevaeh Rudachyk and Kaydence Kucharyshen.

Kristen Peterson and Kelsey Newman, teachers at Sturgis Composite School, introduced each graduate.

Albarracin was escorted by his parents, Kristela and Francis, and plans to attend Sask Polytech in Saskatoon in the electrician program.

Babiuk was escorted by Keith and Trudy and plans to continue playing hockey and become a line technician.

Christopher was escorted by her parents, Jennifer and Trevor, and plans to attend school to become a power engineer.

Gregory was escorted by her parents, Erin and Sheldon, and plans to attend Sask Polytech in Regina in the dental assistant therapist program.

Soltys was escorted by her parents, Marina and Levi, and plans to attend the University of Regina to earn a degree in social work.

Karcha was escorted by her parents, Robert and Marsha, and wants to attend secondary school in the field of resources and environmental law to become a conservation officer.

Kucharyshen was escorted by her parents, Jason and Karen, and plans to take a year off before attending post-secondary school to become a teacher.

Kucharyshen was escorted by his parents, Jason and Karen, and plans to attend Sask Polytech in Saskatoon in the welding program.

Masley was escorted by his parents, Amanda and Kelly, and plans to move to Saskatoon to attend Sask Polytech to become an electrician.

Rakochy was escorted by her parents, Stephanie and Chris, and plans to become an RCMP officer.

Rudachyk was escorted by her father, Shaun, and plans to finish her education with Suncrest College and become an elementary school teacher.

Schotts was escorted by his parents, Devin and April, and plans to find a job and work in the future.

Secundiak was escorted by his parents, Blair and Charlene, and plans to attend the Edwards School of Business in Saskatoon.

Soltys was escorted by his parents, Levi and Marina, and plans to go to school in Saskatoon for power engineering.

Stack was escorted by her parents, Kimberly and Justin, and plans to attend Algonquin College to pursue an accounting certificate.

Chris Balyski, the board trustee for the Good Spirit School Division, brought greetings from the board.

“We gather today to celebrate your incredible achievements and the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and perseverance,” he said. “You have reached this milestone through spirit, dedication and courage. You have grown through challenges and risen with perseverance. Whatever your next step may be, move forward with the same courage and character that brought you here,” concluded Balyski.

Kipp Bayer and Michael Andrusko presented the graduation scrolls, followed by scholarships and awards.

Secundiak gave the thank-you to parents, which was replied to by his dad, Blair.

Masley gave the thank-you to the graduates.

Gregory gave the thank-you to the teachers, with Trevor Olson replying on behalf of the teachers.

Smith was presented with the Governor General's Award for the 2024 year.

Nathan Hrynchyshyn was the guest speaker for the evening.

Albarracin gave the valedictorian address.

The graduation ceremony concluded with a slide presentation, a grand march and an escort and parent dance.
