Kevin Galbraith, Special Constable Community Safety Officer for the City of Yorkton, delivered a presentation Wednesday night regarding city bylaws.

YORKTON — Residents gathered at the Yorkton Public Library May 28 for a Community Bylaw Information Session.

The event offered an opportunity to learn about local regulations directly from city officials.

Kevin Galbraith, Special Constable Community Safety Officer for the City of Yorkton, led the session, providing an overview of key bylaws that govern the city.

Galbraith outlined three major bylaws that affect Yorkton residents: traffic regulations, animal control and property standards.

"The two main bylaws are traffic bylaw and animal control bylaw. The other big one is property standards. Those are the three big ones," said Galbraith, "some of the provincial stuff we also do. Anything under the traffic safety act—we do that as well."

Regarding property standards, Galbraith explained that the city's role primarily focuses on general property maintenance.

"Basically it's just property maintenance for the most part. Garbage removal, overgrown yards, storage of stuff," said Galbraith, adding "the building department goes more into building and structures and things. We deal mostly with the yard stuff."

Residents who were unable to attend the session can find answers to their bylaw-related questions on the City of Yorkton's .
