RCMP seizes cocaine in Yorkton drug trafficking investigation

YORKTON – Four individuals are facing charges after Saskatchewan RCMP seized cocaine and cash following a drug trafficking investigation in the Yorkton area.  

On June 16, the Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) with the assistance of Yorkton Police Dog Service (PDS) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 10, approximately five kilometres south of Yorkton, in connection with an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. 

Officers arrested the adult male driver and an adult passenger. 

On the same day, RCMP officers with Yorkton and Swift Current Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Teams (STRT), Moose Jaw Crime Reduction Team (CRT) and Yorkton General Investigation Section (GIS) executed search warrants at two residences in Yorkton – one in the 200 block of 4th Avenue North and one in the 100 block of 3rd Avenue Âé¶¹´«Ã½AV. 

During searches of the two properties and the vehicle that was stopped on Highway 10, officers located and seized 1,177 grams of cocaine, $75,712.90 in cash and other drug trafficking paraphernalia. 

Officers arrested two adult males, one at each residence.

As a result of investigation, Jude Becker, a 31-year-old male, Risto Zimmer, a 21-year-old male, Dalton Swain, a 29-year-old male, and Chelsea Schlechter, a 37-year-old female, all from Yorkton, are each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, and  possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000,

The adult passenger of the vehicle was released without charges. 

Jude Becker, Risto Zimmer and Dalton Swain appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court on June 18.

Chelsea Schlechter is scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on July 21.
