YORKTON — Yorkton Mayor Aaron Kienle and Councillor Dustin Brears will be attending the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Annual Conference and Trade Show 2025.
Council authorized the pair to attend the conference May 29 to June 1, in Ottawa at its regular meeting Monday, including funding the trip in accordance with the Travel and Training Expenses – Members of Council Policy.
Travel by Council Members out of the province while on City business requires authorization by resolution of Council in order to claim expenses.
Jessica Matsalla, Director of Legislation and Procedures (City Clerk), with the city noted that the last day of events and workshops on Sunday, June 1, and that would make returning to Yorkton for a regularly scheduled Council meeting on June 2 difficult.
With that in mind Council also approved changing the Monday, June 2, 2025 Regular Council Meeting to Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Yorkton councillor Randy Goulden will also be attending the FCM event but her expenses will be covered by SUMA, as she will represent that organization as its president.
