Ares Kickboxing Club of Wilkie had several members win medals at an open martial arts tournament in Prince Albert: Jordan Sander, Adam Pennell, Jesse Natske, Nick Wangler, Matt Fedler and Candice Natske.

Former Unity resident Jessie Wallace’s short film, Yellow Bird, was nominated for a Canadian Golden Sheaf award in the categories of best photography, best art direction, best original music and best drama. Wallace previously won a Golden Sheaf for her 2003 film, 15 Minute Death.

A Unity Western Days promotion by Cinema Satellite saw a Sony 46-inch widescreen rear projection high-definition television, with free stand, advertised for $1,949.

Seeding had begun for the grass greens project at the Wilkie Golf Course. The hope was that golfers would be able to use the greens by the fall.
