NORTH BATTLEFORD - A man facing charges in the death of Jordan Wright, 32, from North Battleford, is now scheduled for a preliminary hearing.
Xavier Lonesinger, 26, from North Battleford, is charged with first-degree murder.
At North Battleford provincial court on Wednesday, a judge-alone trial was elected and a not guilty plea was entered.
Lonesinger, who is in custody, appeared in court via CCTV.
A preliminary hearing in the case has been scheduled for Dec. 15 to 19, 2025, in Courtroom 2, at North Battleford provincial court.
Another accused, a 17-year-old male youth, from Saskatoon, is also facing charges in the matter. He is charged with manslaughter and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
According to police, the charges in the case stem from a Feb. 2, 2024 incident. Battlefords RCMP received a report of a shooting at a residence on 93rd Street in North Battleford. They responded to find an injured male, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS. RCMP say their investigation determined two males entered the house armed with weapons and an altercation took place. A firearm was discharged and Wright was injured. He later died of his injuries.
