On June 12, Melfort RCMP conducted a traffic stop on James Smith Cree Nation in relation to an ongoing investigation.
JAMES SMITH CREE NATION - A woman is facing charges after more than 600 grams of illicit drugs were seized.
On June 12 at approximately 8:30 a.m., Melfort RCMP conducted a traffic stop on James Smith Cree Nation in relation to an ongoing investigation.
Officers could see drug paraphernalia in plain view in the vehicle. As a result of further investigation, officers located and seized approximately 300 grams of cocaine, approximately 175 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 60 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 70 grams of cannabis, as well as a large sum of cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result of the continued investigation, a 31-year-old woman, from James Smith Cree Nation, is charged with:
- three counts, possession for the purpose of trafficking;
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; and
- one count, possession for the purpose of distributing.
She is scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on June 13.
