STAR CITY — On May 17 at 3:05 p.m., the Melfort Fire Department (MFD) was dispatched to assist the Star City Fire Department with a house fire in the town of Star City.

Upon arrival, Star City firefighters were already engaged in an aggressive attack on the fully involved structure. The MFD provided a defensive strategy to help contain the blaze and protect surrounding properties.

Fortunately, the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. After assisting at the scene, the MFD was released and returned to Melfort.

“We would like to thank the Star City Fire Department for their excellent initial response to the fire, as well as the RCMP, SaskPower, and SaskEnergy for their support,” said the MFD in a statement.
