TISDALE — A new restaurant has opened in Tisdale. Jaira’s Kitchen officially opened its doors on June 1.
Ajaira Oxales-Reyes, the owner of Jaira’s Kitchen, has a menu featuring several different ramen dishes as well as traditional chicken and burgers.

Originally from the Philippines, Oxales-Reyes moved to Â鶹´«Ã½AV Korea at age 19. “That’s where I learned how to cook Japanese and Korean ramen,” she said.
In 2019, she moved to Canada and worked in several northeast Saskatchewan restaurants, including Gieni’s Family Restaurant in Carrot River, The Shorebird at Tobin Lake, and The Spot in Nipawin.
While she currently rents the location for Jaira’s Kitchen, Oxales-Reyes said, “I didn’t purchase it yet. I’m still renting it, but we have an agreement—if the business does well in two years, I will buy it from them.”
Oxales-Reyes explained that ramen originated in China but was later adapted and popularized in Japan. While the dish has its roots in Chinese noodle soups, it evolved into the distinct Japanese ramen known today, with numerous regional variations.
The restaurant’s opening day on June 1 was so well-received that they ran out of food by 5 p.m. Oxales-Reyes said she chose Tisdale because there are fewer restaurants, meaning less competition, and the community has been very supportive.
Jaira’s Kitchen is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The phone number is 306-878-8558.
“More food is coming,” said Oxales-Reyes. “We’re always looking to change things up and add more variety to our ever-growing menu.”
