CREIGHTON — The Town of Creighton has announced that the mandatory evacuation will be lifted at 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 22.
Creighton Mayor Bruce Fidler told Â鶹´«Ã½AV.ca, “Please be patient, as there is limited access to Flin Flon. Be prepared for reduced services. Travel safely, as there will likely be a lot of traffic, and please remain patient as we work to get everything up and running.”
In a statement, the Town of Creighton said, “Residents are only permitted to enter the Saskatchewan side via Highway 106 (the Hanson Lake Road). Proof of residence may be required.”
The town also warned that medical services, essential services and motel accommodations are limited, and there will be no access to Flin Flon until its evacuation order is lifted.
Residents were reminded:
- Anyone who requires daily or weekly medical assistance should not return until hospital services are fully restored. Medical and ambulance services remain very limited.
- If you suffer from a respiratory illness, it may be advisable to delay your return until air quality improves.
- Bring at least a week's supply of groceries and medications, as access to Flin Flon will not be available until its evacuation order is lifted.
Drivers are advised of possible delays due to road construction by Foran Mining. The fire ban in Creighton remains in effect. This includes all off-road vehicles, such as ATVs and dirt bikes. The ban will remain in place until conditions allow it to be safely lifted.
The Town of Creighton is also requesting that residents leave their homes only for work or essential needs, as fire crews continue to monitor for hot spots. For safety reasons, the grounds of Creighton School are currently closed to the public, as they are being used as a staging area for helicopters.
