RED EARTH CREE NATION - Police are reporting that two wanted men have since been arrested.
Carrot River RCMP previously asked the public to report sightings of Gregory Whitehead and Harvey Whitehead
As a result of continued investigation, on May 22, Carrot River RCMP located one of the wanted males on Red Earth Cree Nation. When an officer approached him, he pointed a sawed-off firearm at the officer. The firearm was not discharged. The male fled into a nearby forested area.
Officers located him and arrested him without incident. Officers located and seized the firearm, as well as a can of bear spray.
On May 23, officers located and arrested the other wanted male on Red Earth Cree Nation.
As a result of continued investigation, Gregory Whitehead has also been charged with:
- one count, pointing a firearm;
- one count, assault with a weapon;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- one count, possession of a firearm while prohibited;
- one count, fail to comply with an undertaking;
- one count, possession of a prohibited firearm without licence;
- one count, possession of a firearm with removed serial number; and
- one count, using a firearm to commit an indictable offence.
Gregory Whitehead and Harvey Whitehead are scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on May 26.
