Visiting with Vic and Bev Hult recently were Stefan Neilsen and Karoline Mortensen from Denmark. Stefan was a trainee at the Hult farm in 2008. While here they visited many family and friends in the area. They also travelled to Banff and Drumheller in Alberta, sightseeing.
Renee and Morris Donovan spent some time on a Saskatchewan golf tour. They left Sept. 12 to travel the province. While on their tour they spent some time with their son Daryn and his wife Megan in Estevan, returning home Monday.
Janet McKee and Bev Hult accompanied by Helena Pike traveled to Edmonton, Alta. Sept. 13 to attend the Creative Stitches and Crafting Alive event held at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park. Besides exhibits, seminars were held on paper crafting, scrap booking, knitting, quilting and more. It was an interesting day for anyone interested in sewing and other crafts.
Did you know the first old age pensions in Canada were established in 1927? They were administered by the provinces and payable with a means test at age 70 at a rate of $20 per month. Gradually this rate was increased until it reached $40 per month in 1949.
It was not until 1952 that the Universal Old Age Security Act was passed and old age pensions became a federal responsibility.
