The Battlefords North Stars announced last week they were beneficiaries of the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund for Sport, Culture and Recreation.
Upon receiving funding from Saskatchewan Lotteries, the North Stars have completed the construction of an exercise facility located in the upper auditorium of the North Battleford Civic Centre.
In 1974, a few volunteers had a dream to start their own lottery fundraiser for sport, culture and recreation. In the early days of Saskatchewan Lotteries, there were less than 100 volunteer groups receiving lottery proceeds. Today, more than 12,000 sport, culture, recreation and community groups depend on Saskatchewan Lotteries base funding. The Battlefords North Stars are one of the groups benefiting from these funds.
"We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from the Saskatchewan Lotteries," said coach and general manager Kevin Hasselberg. "Because of this funding, our athletes and future athletes wishing to become a part of the North Stars team have a functional facility to address fitness needs."
