Emotions were running high Tuesday night in Cut Knife, as the Battleford Beaver Blues visited the Colts.

Riley Albert, who joined Cut Knife just before the roster deadline had a big impact in the game, as he scored three and set up three more as Cut Knife earned the 8-3 win. Brad Duncan, Ashton Hewson and Jordan Noble all had a goal and at least one assist as well for Cut Knife.

Daxin Collins, Travis Keller and Scott Maunula scored for the Beaver Blues.

The win puts Cut Knife at 10-3-0-1 and into sole possession of first place.

Battleford is 8-6-0-0 on the season and in a three-way tie for third place with Hafford and Maymont, but has played more games.

Friday, Hafford beat Perdue 10-4 and Ryan Scheafer led the Mustangs with three goals and three assists as well as 17 penalty minutes. Scheafer's linemates Kyle Rivett and Shane Gopher had two goals and two assists. Ryan Knapton was the winning goalie.

Also Friday night, Cut Knife skated to a 5-2 win over Spiritwood. Duncan had two goals and an assist to lead the Colts. Dallas Sperle was the winning goalie.

Saturday, the Timberwolves thumped Glaslyn 9-0. Colten Anderson, Kyle Brataschuk, Steven Jim, Quentin Tipewan and Raymond Witchekan all had four points for Spiritwood. J.R. Bussiere was the winning goalie. Spiritwood hold the second spot in the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League standings with a 9-4-0-1 record.

Earlier in the week, Hafford edged Glaslyn 9-6 and Battleford beat Radisson 10-7.

Teams have anywhere from five to two games left in the regular season and there are still many questions as to where teams will finish in the standings. With two weeks left in the season the playoff picture should become clear after the six games this weekend.
