The upcoming holiday season will cause some alterations to the schedule at the aquatic centre. For the most part the changes will mean less organized activities in the pools and more available space for leisure swims and lane swims. There are, however, some additional programs that will operate over the holidays.
The school lessons have wrapped up over the past week with the last makeup lessons taking place on Dec. 16. The regular after school lessons are following the same pattern.
Registration fitness programs end the week of Dec. 15 but the drop-in fitness programs will continue during the days at 10 a.m. and noon.
The Surf's Up times will be extended. The spray features, waves and water slides will be in operation from 1 p.m. daily during the holidays.
During the holidays, a wave crashers and wave runners camp will be held - half days on Dec. 23, 27 and 30 and Jan. 2 and 3. The camps are held between 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Each camp stands alone and young people must be registered for each day separately. Snacks are provided. There will be dry land and aquatic activities every day. The children must be comfortable in the water as this is not an introduction, but rather fun and games. The cost is $15 per child per day. Parents are reminded that children must bring clothing for dry land activities and aquatic activities as well as a water bottle. The age group for these camps is seven to 11 years of age.
The school lesson program and the after school lessons will start a new session the week of Jan. 6, as will the winter fitness programs. Registration for the after school lessons is open and the classes are filling rapidly. Please drop by the aquatic centre or call to register. There are a couple of new additions for the winter program. We've added pre-school lessons Monday or Wednesday at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and adult learn to swim lessons on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. These programs will run the usual ten weeks.
If you have any questions, or wish to register for the winter programs, please call the aquatic centre at 306-445-1745 or drop by.
The staff of the aquatic centre would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patronage and to wish each and every one of you the best of the season and a happy and healthy 2014.
