The Battlefords Midget Stars faced the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League's top team on the weekend and battled to earn a split with the Moose Jaw Generals.

The Generals dominated the Stars in the first period of Sunday's game at the Civic Centre leading 3-0 on the scoreboard and 24-7 in shots.

A combination of the Generals tiring out and the Stars refocusing in the final two periods helped the Battlefords come from behind and win 4-3. The Generals dropped to 5-2-0-0 on the season.

Ashton Clark scored twice while Eric Pfeifer scored once for the North Stars, which tied the game 3-3.

With less than 10 minutes to play in the third period, Josh Bly scored from Braden Lacousiere and goaltender Ryan Rewerts to take the lead.

Rewerts closed the door after that and earned his first win of the season after making 38 saves.

Saturday, the Generals looked a bit flat to start the game, but the Stars couldn't take full advantage, as the game was tied 1-1 after the first period. Maxim Powiada scored the Stars' goal on a power play, one of two power play goals on the weekend for the Stars.

Moose Jaw added two goals in the second period and an empty net goal in the final seconds of the third to earn the 4-1 win. Stars' goalie Rylan Toth made 35 saves in the loss.

The Stars will put their 2-3-1-0 record on the line Thursday against the Beardy's Blackhawks. The Stars will be back on home ice Oct. 25 against Prince Albert.
