No Spring Scramble in 2013

The obviously slow start to spring in 2013 has played havoc with peoples' golfing plans.

That is certainly true at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club, which is anxious to finally get on with the golf season soon after a winter that has lingered on far too long.

In a message at the NBGCC website posted last week, director of golf Dana Johnson stated they hope to open the golf course in the near future "as Mother Nature has not been too nice to us so far this spring."

Already, one early-season event on the calendar has fallen by the wayside.

The club has announced that the Spring Scramble originally set for May 4 and 5, has been cancelled.

Despite that news, the pro shop is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and golfers are encouraged to come and check out the new stock for 2013.

As well, the North Battleford Junior Golf Program is still a go starting on May 6, with orientation to be held that day in the room beside the pro shop.

The dates for the swing classes are May 12, 19 and 26, with afternoon sessions for 10 and under and for 11 and older.

Junior Golf Days are set to run Thursdays from May 9 to June 27, from 4 to 5 p.m.
