The Battlefords Rubby Rollers won their second roller derby bout in a row Saturday night with a big victory over the Weyburn/Estevan Hillbilly Hurt.
The bout at the Agriplex was just the second hosted by the Rubby Rollers and they didn't disappoint the hometown crowd.
A big first half was instrumental in the victory. The Rubby Rollers' jammer was often through the wall of blockers first and the team took advantage of all the penalties against the Hillbilly Hurt en route to a 203-139 lead at the end of the half.
An additional 168 second-half points compared to 135 by the Hillbilly Hurt was enough for a strong 97-point win.
After losing their first-ever bout in July, the Rubby Rollers are on roll, winning two bouts in less than a month.
Their game was part of a double-header, which was led off by a provincial matchup between Saskatchewan and Alberta. It wasn't all good news for local fans as Alberta took the win in that bout.
The team doesn't have a date for their next bout yet, so they'll sit on their 2-1 record for the time being.
