The Regina Rebels didn't do anything spectacular in their game one win over the Battlefords AAA Sharks in Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League action, but they did take the 1-0 series lead.
Tuesday in Regina, the Sharks surrendered 16 shots per period and lost 5-0. Emma Waldenberger and Delaney Frey scored twice for Regina while Hannah Heisler had the other goal.
Sharks' goalie Jacy Akre made 43 saves in the loss while Rae McClintock made 13 saves for the shutout for Regina.
Regina, the first overall team in the SFMAAAHL, has surrendered just four goals in seven games in February. They allowed only 19 goals against all season.
Tuesday the Sharks held Regina's power play off the board on six attempts. The Sharks were 0/4 on the power play.
Game two of the best-of-five series is scheduled for Thursday at the Battleford Arena. Game three will be played Sunday in Regina.
