The warm weather is coming in and with it, Humboldt鈥檚 slo-pitch league. This year the league will be split up into two: spring and summer leagues, due to difficulty getting the available ball diamonds.
The league has been in existence for over ten years and the teams in the league play each other as opposed to teams from other leagues. Megan MacInnis, one of the organizers, said that the number of teams has been fluctuating; in the past they鈥檝e had up to 16, but last year they had six to eight.
鈥淚t has been decreasing a little bit, and we鈥檇 like to get more teams involved,鈥 MacInnis said.
The spring league runs from May 11 to June 30 and will play Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. The deadline to register is April 30. MacInnis said it鈥檚 more difficult to get time on the diamonds in the spring due to baseball and softball starting up.
鈥淚t鈥檚 hard to get people out on a Sunday,鈥 she said.
The summer league runs from July 6 to August 20 and will play on Monday to Thursday. The summer league will have a better pick of ball diamonds when the baseball and softball season ends.
鈥淚t鈥檚 getting out, getting daily exercise in, socializing, communicating with other people,鈥 MacInnis said.
The fee for each team is $200, and each team must have three females on it.
