Stolen vehicle allegedly strikes two police vehicles

On June 10, Prince Albert RCMP received a report that a vehicle, which was previously reported as stolen out of Prince Albert, was located at a business in Redwing.

REDWING - Prince Albert RCMP have charged a man after two police vehicles were hit.

On June 10 at approximately 9:40 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report that a vehicle, which was previously reported as stolen out of Prince Albert, was located at a business in Redwing.

Officers responded and located the stolen vehicle. Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment and surrounded the stolen vehicle with police vehicles. The stolen vehicle drove backwards, striking one of the police vehicles, and then drove forward, striking a second police vehicle. The male driver of the stolen vehicle exited and fled on foot. Officers followed on foot and the male was arrested. The officers in the police vehicles at the time of the incident were not physically injured. The police vehicles were damaged.

Three additional males who were located inside the stolen vehicle were arrested at the scene. One of the males, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Prince Albert Police Service. The two other males were later released without charges.

As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old man, from Prince Albert, is charged with:

  • two counts, assault on police officer with a weapon;
  • one count, flight from peace officer;
  • one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
  • one count, resist/obstruct peace officer;
  • two counts, mischief over $5,000; and
  • one count, fail to comply with release order condition.

The accused appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on June 11.
