                    Current research focus: Current work is a national study of higher education, with particular attention to the re-invention of liberal arts and sciences in the 21st century. Until recently, focused on the conduct of good work in different professions. Good work is work that is technically expert and also responsive to broader communal concerns. Earlier work includes empirical research in cognitive developmental psychology and neuropsychology, with particular reference to the development and breakdown of human symbol-using capacities. Books on structuralism, the effects of brain damage, developmental psychology, cognitive science, arts education, artistic development, creativity, leadership, and education in China. Best knowing for developing the theory of multiple intelligences.
