Soprano, arts advocate and musical statesman. Performing at occasions of world significance, including the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and the 2009 Obama Inaugural Celebration Concert at the Lincoln Memorial. In 2012 Fleming sang on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in the Diamond Jubilee Concert for HM Queen Elizabeth II. She has performed to acclaim in all of the world's major opera houses, singing coloratura, lyric, and lighter spinto soprano roles in Italian, German, French, Czech, Russian, and English. Her repertoire and discography encompass baroque opera and art song, jazz, and indie rock. Signature roles include the Countess in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Desdemona in Verdi's Otello, Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata, and the title role in Dvorak's Rusalka the title roles in Massenet's Manon and °Õ³ó²¹Ã¯²õ, the principal soprano roles in Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, Capriccio, and Arabella, and Blanche in Previn's A Streetcar Names Desire. Awards include the Swedish Polar Music Prize, the Fulbright Lifetime Achievement Medal, and the Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. Nominated for 14 Grammy Awards, she won her fourth, for Best Classical Vocal Solo, in 2013.
