Kasperson was an Executive Director and geographer. He extended the scientific assessment of risk into the social realm, compared its use in national cultures and multinational corporations, created a theory for the social amplification and attenuation of risk, analyzed the moral bases of technological choice, and assessed regional environmental degradation.
