Suparna Rajaram has made fundamental contributions to the study of how individuals remember, in particular, on varieties of conscious experience when accessing memories. Recently, she has become a leader in studies of how groups remember in collaborative settings. Her research focuses on social transmission in small and large groups, about how information flows among groups members. She shows how fundamental psychological processes contribute to both accurate transmission of information and, importantly, how errors are introduced and lead to group false memories. Her approach will help lead to better understanding of how political and cultural forces shape memory of different groups.
