                    Distinguished Professor of Anthropology. Revealed and demonstrted emergence of social inequality in the southern Levant and coevolution of complex Levantine and Egyptian societies through study of metal technologies from 8th to 1st million BC based on interdisciplinary excavations in Israel and Jordan. Pioneered digital archaeology methods.  Levy leads the UC San Diego Center for Cyber-Archaeology and Sustainability at the Qualcomm Institute/California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) and Co-Director of the new Scripps Center for Marine Archaeology.
