REGINA – An 18-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, after a vehicle struck two pedestrians early Saturday morning.
At about 3:10 a.m. on June 14, police responded to the 1400 block of Kramer Boulevard for reports of a vehicle collision involving injuries. The initial police investigation revealed that an altercation had broken out among several people when a vehicle suddenly drove into the group, striking two victims before crashing into a tree. The driver fled the scene.
Emergency crews arrived and provided medical assistance to the injured individuals. One victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the other was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
During the investigation, the suspect, later identified as Kartik Deswal, 18, returned to the scene and turned himself into authorities. He was taken into custody without incident.
Deswal has been charged with attempted murder, two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm, and dangerous driving.
Deswal appeared in Regina Provincial Court on June 16.
