REGINA — Community initiative Mark and Jess Flush it Forward has raised $5,000 towards Dress for Success Regina.

Over several weeks, play92 hosts Mark Johnston and Jess Frost hauled a pink toilet across Regina. The toilet would be placed at various homes, only moving after a donation was made.

The idea was inspired by a play92 listener sharing a story about a rugby team fundraising with a toilet-moving.

“We got a really good chain going for over a week. There was a lady who asked to have it on her own lawn because she wanted to surprise her kids and put their dog in front of it,” said Frost.

The pair also snuck the toilet into the vice principal's office at Balfour Collegiate.

All the money raised went towards Dress for Success Regina, a non-profit group that aims to help women achieve independence and success in the workplace by providing them with tools, attire and more.

“It's a smaller charity that needs all the help that they can get right now,” said Johnston.

He added, “You got the big ones that get a lot of the support, so we thought, let’s try to find one that doesn’t get a ton of attention and try to help them out a little bit.”

Guardian Roofing & Exteriors also chipped in by matching donations up to $2,500.

“Dress for Success was a different way that my wife and I were able to give back, which isn’t typical of a roofing company. It was just a way to give back,” said Henry Greenberg, president and owner of Guardian Roofing and Exteriors.

Dress for Success Regina executive director Dotun Fabeyo said the donations mean alot to their group.

”[This] will directly help us continue our programming and services for women in the community who need them. This donation will help us enhance our accessibility, expand our programs and services, and allow us to continue helping to boost confidence and empower the women in our community. This was a creative and fun way to create awareness for Dress for Success Regina – thank you to play92.1, Guardian Roofing, and all who donated!”
