Community barbecue marks national HIV testing day

Persons Living with AIDS Network offers food, entertainment and awareness opportunities.

The PLWA Network will have peers on hand at the community barbecue in downtown Saskatoon for those wishing to know their status with rapid HIV test kits.

SASKATOON — The Persons Living with AIDS Network is hosting a block party in downtown Saskatoon this Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

This community-wide barbecue, hosted on national HIV testing day, offers free food and beverages and includes entertainment from hoop dance Lawrence Roy Jr., fiddler Joe DesJarlais and ARC, a local rapper and artist.

Other activities include a pie-in-the-face fundraiser

The PLWA Network will have peers on hand for those wishing to know their status with rapid HIV test kits (honorariums provided).

Other community organizations will be there to talk about the services they provide in the community.

The block party will take place at 127C-Ave. D N. from 22nd Street to 23rd Street.
