Suspect charged with impaired driving after allegedly failing to stop for police

At around 3 a.m. on June 17, a sergeant patrolling in the area of Laurier Drive observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Circle Drive.

SASKATOON - One person was arrested following an impaired driving investigation early this morning.

At around 3 a.m. on June 17, a sergeant patrolling in the area of Laurier Drive observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Circle Drive.

Upon attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle refused to stop and ran a red light at the intersection of Warman Road and 51st Street before turning into a residential area.

The vehicle was located parked and unattended in the 200 block of Pinehouse Drive.

A person, later determined to be the driver, was observed outside an apartment complex nearby.

Through ongoing investigation, the person was found to be impaired and was arrested without incident.

As a result, the 19-year-old individual was charged with impaired driving, exceeding .08, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle being pursued by police while failing to stop.
