12-hour fundraiser to bring MRI to Estevan is underway

The Radiothon for Life will run from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on May 21, and will push the fundraising campaign closer to its goal.

ESTEVAN — An important fundraiser in the effort to bring MRI services to St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan is now underway. 

The annual Radiothon for Life for the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation began at 7 a.m. May 21 and will continue until 7 p.m. The event is taking place inside the hospital and will air on Golden West Broadcasting's three Estevan radio stations during the day. 

Proceeds from the event will be directed to the Together We Will - MRI for Estevan campaign. As of May 20, the total stood at $5,414,689, which is 83 per cent of the fundraising goal of $6.5 million. The total includes the $2 million from Elaine Walkom in memory of her late husband Grant, which kick-started the campaign. 

Last year the Radiothon raised $185,683 - the best off-air total ever.

To support the fundraiser, people can , call into the event at 306-687-0310, drop by the hospital during the Radiothon or mail in your donation to the foundation at 1176 Nicholson Road, Estevan SK, S4A 0H3.
