ESTEVAN — One person is facing multiple charges after he was arrested by the Estevan Police Service on May 15.
According to a report from the EPS, officers arrested a 47-year-old man for sexual assault, assault and mischief to property. The accused made an appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on May 16 and has been remanded to appear next by CCTV in Weyburn Provincial Court on May 22.
No further information was provided.
Also on May 15, members received a report of a collision on Kensington Avenue at Nesbitt Drive. One vehicle had to be towed. No injuries were reported. One of the drivers was charged with failing to yield right of way.
Police attended to a disturbance at an east-end residence May 16 and arrested a female. She was lodged in cells and released without any charges once she was sober.
EPS members attended to a report of break and enter to a residence on May 17. During the investigation, a 44-year-old Estevan man was arrested, but based on the circumstances, he was released without charge a short time later. The matter remains under investigation.
Members received a report of an intoxicated and disorientated woman who was lost in the industrial area. Members attended and located a 48-year-old woman from the Maritimes who was grossly intoxicated. She was lodged in cells to be released once sober and capable of taking care of herself.
Police responded to a Report Impaired Drivers (RID) call. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop conducted, during which time it was determined that a learner driver was with a supervisor and no signs of impairment existed.
A hit-and-run collision was reported in which damage occurred to the side mirror of a parked vehicle. A witness provided the licence plate of the offending vehicle and the matter remains under investigation.
A second RID call was received for another vehicle and driver who was stopped by EPS members and determined to be sober. The motorist was cautioned regarding their driving actions.
EPS members attended to 44 calls for service during the May 16-18 weekend. Among them was a report of an unwanted guest in a hotel room. The female was not paying for her hotel room and was removed by police.
Two domestic disturbance-related calls for service came in. Police continue to investigate both files.
A report was filed of an assault at a residence. Members attended and a male was arrested and released pending charges. Additional interviews are to be conducted for the investigation.
A report came in of a suicidal person at a residence. On arrival, members were required to breach a locked door to ensure the safety of the individual, who was subsequently transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for assessment.
EPS members kept the peace at a residence while property was obtained by a former spouse of the property owner.
The EPS and Estevan Fire Rescue Service attended to an apartment complex in north-central Estevan May 19 in response to a small cooking fire. The fire was extinguished and the fire department will follow-up with the investigation.
Police attended to a domestic dispute in the downtown area. Both parties agreed to separate for the night and the matter remains under investigation.
Members attended to a burglar alarm that was determined to be false at a residence in west Estevan. A second similar false alarm occurred at a business in east Estevan.
Six compliance checks were conducted during the night shift on individuals bound by court-ordered conditions. All those checked were found to be obeying their orders.
An assault was reported near the end of the night shift which resulted in a male being arrested and lodged in cells while the investigation continued.
A noise complaint about loud music was received by the EPS. Members attended and warned the resident under the noise bylaw.
