ESTEVAN — The annual SMILE Services Estevan Parade on June 13 was once again a hit with the community.
Dozens of floats and other entries were part of this year's parade. Participants gathered at the 1600-block of First Street and made their way throughout the southwest part of the community, travelling to Souris Avenue Â鶹´«Ã½AV, Sixth Street, 13th Avenue and Eighth Street, and ending near the Estevan fairgrounds.
Some people walked the parade route, tossing candy to young people.
Large crowds gathered to watch the event, which was the kick-off for the Estevan Exhibition Association's fair and rodeo.
For the second straight year, the grad parade for the Class of 2025 at the Estevan Comprehensive School was an added feature.
Several awards were handed out, including TS&M Supply (best of the parade), the Wa-Wa Shriners (best out-of-town display), Kevin Olson (best comedy), Lori Smith of Sunset Embroidery (best decorated horse and rider) and Â鶹´«Ã½AVern Plains Co-op (best interpretation of the theme, which was Hats off to the Rodeo).
Â鶹´«Ã½AV will have full coverage of the Energy City Ex and the grad ceremony.
