For the first time, Souris Valley Museum invited grandparents to come out and join their grandkids for a Christmas activity. Saturday morning saw families touring the museum, decorating cookies and then enjoying them with milk, tea or coffee. 聽

The museum鈥檚 executive director Mark Veneziano said that the idea of hosting a bonding event for kids and grandparents actually came from the public.

鈥淚 was talking to a grandmother in town, and she suggested something about doing something with her grandchildren at the museum. (She said that) even if it was something like decorating a cookie, it would be something nice to do with her grandkids. So we took it from there,鈥 said Veneziano.聽

Using the suggestions from the community and taking into account what people would like to see, the museum put up a morning Christmas event. Even though they decided on doing it the last minute, they still had quite a few families joining.聽

鈥淲e had a good showing today. Everyone enjoyed themselves,鈥 said Veneziano.聽

The guests also had a chance to go through the museum's exhibit and learn a bit about different Christmas traditions and holidays before they got into decorating cookies.
