For the first time, Souris Valley Museum invited grandparents to come out and join their grandkids for a Christmas activity. Saturday morning saw families touring the museum, decorating cookies and then enjoying them with milk, tea or coffee. 聽
The museum鈥檚 executive director Mark Veneziano said that the idea of hosting a bonding event for kids and grandparents actually came from the public.
鈥淚 was talking to a grandmother in town, and she suggested something about doing something with her grandchildren at the museum. (She said that) even if it was something like decorating a cookie, it would be something nice to do with her grandkids. So we took it from there,鈥� said Veneziano.聽
Using the suggestions from the community and taking into account what people would like to see, the museum put up a morning Christmas event. Even though they decided on doing it the last minute, they still had quite a few families joining.聽
鈥淲e had a good showing today. Everyone enjoyed themselves,鈥� said Veneziano.聽
The guests also had a chance to go through the museum's exhibit and learn a bit about different Christmas traditions and holidays before they got into decorating cookies.
