Weyburn area farmer Dale Paslawski crushes some wheat kernels into his hand so he can see what kind of crop he's straight-combining, in his field 10 miles north of Weyburn on Aug. 28. This is a new variety of hard red spring wheat, and he's happy as the wheat is clean and healthy, and graded No. 1, with a yield around 25 bushels to the acre. With wheat prices doing very well right, Paslawski is glad to see a high-quality crop that he can sell at a decent price in this year's harvest. The hot, dry weather has been ideal for the farmers in the Weyburn region this harvest season.
