ESTERHAZY — After receiving three quotes on a tender to provide waste disposal services, council decided to continue with the same company. Three different quotes came in at $325,095, $412,990 and $690,428.
“The recommendation then would be to go with the first one at the $325,095 over a three-year contract,” CAO Tammy MacDonald told council. “The numbers are slightly up from the last contract that we had, but there is a significant difference of that one versus the others who applied.”
Council unanimously approved the contract from Loraas Disposal to provide services to the Town of Esterhazy for three years at $325,095.
Water meters
In her report to council, MacDonald told council that just over 100 water meters remain to be changed over to the new smart meter system.
“We’re down to 112 outstanding water meters that we need to install,” she said.
Conversation has taken place with Metercor regarding final installations, in particular, how many can be done by town staff or a local contractor as opposed to the greater expense of bringing an official company representative in to accomplish the task.
“We are trying to look at some creative ways to get the last 112 done, with the goal of having them all done by Oct. 1, so the next water bill readings we have all meters in before winter hits,” MacDonald said
