The third annual golf tournament for the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation will have some "exciting changes".

"Our 2013 tournament will feature Weyburn's own Brendon LaBatte of the Saskatchewan Roughriders," said Michael Hoffman, chairperson of the charity golf tournament.

"Brendon will be in attendance at the golf tournament and at the fundraising supper," added Hoffman. "We are very excited that Brendon has agreed to partner with us for this year's tournament and we are looking forward to building on the success of our previous tournaments."

"I am looking forward to helping to raise funds for the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation," said LaBatte. "A new hospital for Weyburn and surrounding area is very important and I am happy to be able to lend my name to this very worthy cause."

It was also announced that the fundraising supper will be prepared by the Weyburn Young Fellows Club. "The Young Fellows have prepared fundraising meals in our city for many years and we are excited to have them as a part of our event this year," said Hoffman.

Once the Canadian Football League schedule is released, a date for the charity golf tournament will be released. "We are hoping for a July date for the tournament, as we have had in the past," said Hoffman.

There are additional "exciting changes" for the golf tournament that will be announced at a later date, once they are finalized.

The Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation is a registered charity focused on raising funds for a new hospital for Weyburn and the surrounding communities.

To date, through fundraising, donations and commitments from local governments they have raised and identified funds totalling approximately $14 million.
