Government Relations Minister Lori Carr announced the green light for another 303 new projects totalling more than $16.6 million of provincial investment under the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP) 2020.
That brings the latest amount of approved projects to 497 representing a total investment so far of $38 million by the Government of Saskatchewan, as it extends the deadline to July 31 from July 17 for municipalities to submit potential projects under the program.
The approved projects includes the City of Weyburn鈥檚 new fleet storage building, with funding of $1,562,328 provided through this program. This building will replace the old roundhouse building, which is over 100 years old, where a number of the City鈥檚 fleet equipment is currently stored.
The RM of Brokenshell was approved for $44,843 for a cold storage building, and the RM of Cymri is receiving $78,907 to upgrade municipal Range Road 2122.
The Town of Midale has three projects approved, and received $61,400 to extend Macoun Avenue to grid road 606; $7,600 to subdivide land for use for a new fire hall; and $17,812 for water and sewer mains.
The RM of Francis is receiving $96,873 towards a new shop and office building, and the RM of Griffin is receiving $62,953 for a municipal shop.
The Town of Francis received $31,189 for upgrades to the town shop.
The RM of Norton has two projects, and will receive $24,650 for a culvert replacement and shoulder build-up, and $8,839 for another culvert replacement.
The RM of The Gap received $28,602 for gravel crushing, for use on local grid roads. The Village of Ceylon received $15,954 for the installation of a generator.
The Town of Yellow Grass received approval for four projects, including $10,000 for crack sealing streets; $36,000 towards a street sweeper; $19,500 for extending Rye Street for a subdivision connection; and $3,202 for a generator for the water plant.
The Village of Creelman received $16,241 for sewer main upgrades, and the Village of Osage received $2,875 towards buying a tractor for use by the village.
The RM of Cambria received $44,412 for upgrades to township road 14.

The $150 million MEEP 2020 was announced in May and is a key component of the Government of Saskatchewan鈥檚 $7.5 billion, two-year capital plan to build a strong province and stimulate its economic recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
All MEEP 2020 funding must be used by municipalities by March 31, 2022.
