The Weyburn Branch of the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society is asking the public's help with their current project for Weyburn's 100th anniversary.

They are collecting pictures of Weyburn to be put on DVD, which will be made available for sale. Photos can be of buildings, businesses, sports, events (floods etc.), schools, churches, Legion, military, parades, groups or associations (Cubs, Scouts, bands etc.), Mental Hospital/Souris Valley, virtually anything interesting regarding the past 100 years of the City of Weyburn.

They would like any identifying information included (names, year, etc.), and would prefer the pictures to be scanned and e-mailed; if that isn't possible a member from the Genealogy Society can visit you with a portable scanner or digital camera.

The group have quite a few pictures in their collection already but one of the pictures they are looking for is a picture of the bandstand in River Park, if anyone has one.

They ask that pictures be scanned with the following guidelines:

Set resolution to 200 dpi; set output size to 1000 pixels for the larger dimension (this may be the width or the height depending on the photo layout). The other dimension will change accordingly; and save the file as a JPG file

If the photo is black and white, scan as image type "8-bit greyscale" rather than 16-bit (if offered). Some scanners may not list 8-bit greyscale, may just say "greyscale". For a colour photo use "24-bit colour".
