Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism held its third annual 'Celebrating Seniors' awards night on September 30 in honour of the contributions that seniors make to our society, celebrating all aspects of life and work to which seniors give of their time and energy.

Award categories include Advocacy, Centenarian, Community Leadership - rural and urban -Education, Contribution to a First Nations or Métis Community, Fitness, Heritage and Culture, Lifetime Achievement, Fine Arts, Senior Friendly Business and Teamwork.

Weyburn's own April Sampson was nominated for the Heritage and Culture award. Although she did not take the award this year, the community of Weyburn values all of the time and caring Ms. Sampson has shared with everyone.
