Pangman (cpd) - Pangman School held their Open House and Christmas concert at the school gym on Dec. 20 with many attending. Awards were given out with Honour certificates for an average of over 80 per cent going to Grade 12 to Andrea Lillejord with an 84.3 average and Brea Nyhus with an average of 88.3. The Khedive Rec centre Award for the highest average in Grade 12 in a particular subject went to Brea Nyhus in IP 30 with 99 per cent. The Village of Pangman award for the highest average in Grade 11 went to Chance Froh, who had 75 per cent. The RM of Norton award for the highest average in Grade 12 went to Brea Nyhus. The Governor General's Medal is a bronze medal which is awarded to the student with the highest average on graduating from Grade 12 based on the final two years of the secondary program, and it was awarded to Brea Nyhus.
The Pangman students of the month of December are, for kindergarten to Grade 2, Logan Fellner; Grades 3-5 went to Anna Friesen; Grades 6-8 went to Charlee Quewezance; Grades 9-10 went to Joseph Foster, Ocean Larson, Payton Nyhus and Lila Svedahl, and Grades 11-12 went to Michelle Baker-Konner.
Pangman Grade 11 student Christie Jesse is the new school news reporter.
This is the last chance for any student interested to sign up for another season for curling. The season fee is $20, and it will start Mondays or Tuesday in January. Contact person Mrs. Myren.
Anyone still can register for the once-a-week after-school music/drama program to learn performing arts, sing, playing an instrument and backstage technique. Please phone Joyce Walters in Ogema.
The Town is building ice in the former rink structure for the skating enjoyment of area residents.
Sherry Fisher went to Pangman School recently and shared her chocolate-making expertise with Mrs. Warren's Food Studies 30 class.
School classes will resume in the new year on Thursday, Jan. 3.
Bob Morrow, a resident of Sunnyview Place, moved to Moose Jaw on Dec. 23.
The Remembrance Day poster winners for the junior color posters for Grades 4, 5 and 6 went to first place, Shash Kornack; second place went to Jacey Rowland and third place went to Nathaniel Tichkowski. The winners for the Grades 4, 5 and 6 were, in the black and white category, first place went to Jacey Rowland; second place went to Gabriel Cherpin and third place went to Cailee Ungermann. The prizes for intermediate posters for the Grades 7, 8 and 9 black and white posters, first place, went to Hayley Lillejord; second place went to Nikita Ruiz Reyes and third place went to Brett Tourcher. The Primary category for the colored posters for Grades 1, 2 and 3 went to Evan Ungermann in first, and second place went to Aden Svedahl. Intermediate posters for Grades 1, 2 and 3 in color saw first place go to Evan Ungermann; second place went to Zoe Tichkowski and third place went to Skylar White.
The kindergarten to Grades 3 participated in a play with music called The Sound of Christmas while Grades 6-8 did a play called Christmas Idol. Many donated food for the food hampers at the concert.
On Dec. 21, the students had a day of sleigh riding with Albert Hanson and Darryl Rowland bringing in a team of horses. A movie was shown at the gym for all who had to warm up. A hot dog luncheon was held at noon. The students were let out with an early dismissal for the Christmas holidays.
Seven residents of Sunnyview Place played 10 frames of bowling on Dec. 19, with Gerry Taylor in first with a score of 106 points; Millie Haauk placed second with a score of 105 points and Effie Devine placed third with a score of 91 points.
Darlene Kessler motored to Nebraska on Dec. 21 to spend the Christmas holidays with her son Cody and Terry and her grandsons Riley, James and Colby.
Charlie and Robin Larson spent time visiting with Charlie's grandmother Joan Knox at the Legion Towers and their aunt Kay Kessler at the Tatagwa View in Weyburn on Dec. 23.
Peter Summers came to Sunnyview Place on Dec. 24 to play guitar and sing to help celebrate the December residents birthdays. Those celebrating were Effie Devine and Gerry Taylor.
A Pangman resident won the raffle basket at the Pangman branch of the Credit Union.
On Dec. 24, eight residents of Sunnyview Place participated in their weekly Bean Bag playing 10 frames, with Gerry Taylor playing first with a score of 65 points; Vi Kessler and Effie Devine tied for second place with a score of 62 points and Doris Sambrook and Ada Murray tied for third place with a score of 46 points.
There still are some Pangman-Khedive-Parry community calendars at the Pangman Credit Union for anyone still needing theirs. There are also some extras for sale for $10 each. Please call Isobel (Barry) Sample for more information. Anyone that knows of a non-profit organization that needs held in repairing, etc., please write a letter to Isobel requesting your needs.
Some Pangman residents attended the Christmas Eve service held at Sunnyview Place on Dec. 23. Rev Sylvia Fitzgerald officiated the service.
