A Weyburn photographer is launching a photography project that will benefit Inclusion Weyburn as a fundraiser.
Sherry Lynn Shamblin has started #TheFrontStepsProject, where she invites her subjects to pose for her on their front steps for 鈥渟ocially distant鈥� family portraits.
As a fundraiser, she will take donations, and will dedicate 75 per cent of the funds raised to Inclusion Weyburn for the portraits.
She is offering a five-minute session with one to three digital images, an online gallery for the family, and print release.
There are photographers all over North America who have launched similar projects with this hashtag, some for charity and others just to help drum business for themselves, said Shamblin.
She has done two fundraisers before for Inclusion Weyburn, and she wanted to do this project as a way to reach out to people and to maintain community support for this organization.
As of Sunday evening, she estimated she has raised close to $1,000 for Inclusion Weyburn after offering the portraits for about a week.
鈥淚鈥檝e got kids, although none have special needs. I鈥檇 be more than glad to have someone around town who would help them out if I needed it,鈥� she said, noting she has a friend who has a special needs baby.
鈥淭his organization provides ways for these kids to have normal lives. It鈥檚 important,鈥� said Shamblin, adding she is heartened to see even during this time dealing with the COVID-19 virus that people are still giving.
In a posting about her project, she said, 鈥淟et鈥檚 take some of this time you鈥檙e spending at home with your families to capture some memories, ones you will hopefully laugh about with your grandkids one day as you tell them about the time we all went crazy and bought up all the toilet paper!鈥�
