To the Editor:

There is much debate going on these days on how to "fix" all these shootings going on, whether it be schools, malls, businesses - whatever.

I feel we need to go back in history to see how this all got started. Let's go back about 50 years:
In the 1960s, Madiline Murray Ohair started pushing to get prayer taken out of schools. She said it didn't fit all the kids. Then, about the same time comes Dr. Spock telling us we shouldn't spank (discipline) our children, it might warp their little minds. (I have always said, "His book should have come equipped with a handle.")

Granted, there was problems with "over-correction", (you think there isn't today?) About this time Social Services got on the band wagon. If one parent was "over-correcting" a child, then ALL parents must be, and we have to fix that! It's just about to the point now, if you discipline your child anywhere you could be reported and maybe have your child taken away. Consequently, you can't discipline your child, teach them manners, (you have to reason with them) teach them respect for their parents, others, and heaven forbid should a teacher try to correct a student, or even console a first grader with a skinned knee. And my goodness, you HAVE to be politically correct! The so-called "Rulers" of our two great Christian nations just let this happen, gradually eroding society!

Enter Trudeau with the human rights thing. Human rights is good, but just like everything else, somebody is going to take advantage of it, as we have seen so many times. Another thing that came out of those Trudeau years, was the hippy generation. Setting up hostels across the country, telling the young people to "do their own thing", you don't have to listen to your parents.

(So who have we got in the governments of the day? Something to think about)
My definition of human rights: You have the right to swing your fist, but that right stops at the end of my nose.

I am afraid that today we are having our rights taken away; we don't stop anyone at the "end of our nose". We keep making laws to accommodate whoever, like the one I'm sure Saskatoon city council will come up with for "Merry Christmas". It doesn't matter that I am offended by them doing away with it.

A few examples of political correctness we have seen: A Mountie wearing a turban - whatever happened to the Mountie uniform that Canada is and was so famous for? A school letting a student bring a dagger to school, because it's part of his "dress code". After 9-11, a few minutes of silence on Parliament Hill in memory of this disaster, but no prayer offered as it might offend someone. I like to think we are still known as a Christian nation, and if we are going to continue, we better start standing up for our country. Who makes the rules for our country? Or do we bow to every whim?

How to fix the shooting problems: Like Carl Morrow said in his letter to the editor, banning guns is not going to help; guns really aren't the problem: people are. How many billions of dollars did we waste with registration? Making criminals out of the common "Joe". Now, our neighbors to the Â鶹´«Ã½AV are talking about putting armed guards in schools and teachers packing a gun - what the heck - make it part of the student package for class!

But for Heavens sake, do not bring a Bible to school, it's against the rules, and somebody will be offended - don't let me catch you bowing in prayer.

What's the answer? I don't know, but putting more guns in schools is NOT the answer! In a Christian nation--putting God back in schools - and our country-- would be a help and a start!
