The Weyburn Police Service attended to 91 calls during the week of Oct. 7-13.

A staff member from a local hotel contacted Weyburn Police Service to report property stolen from one of the hotel rooms; the matter is still under investigation.

During the week, there were a number of complaints of mischief done to parked vehicles. These acts are under investigation. If you have any information regarding these incidents please contact the Weyburn Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

A male attended Weyburn Police Service to report he was the victim of an assault on Oct. 9. The matter is being investigated, with possible charges resulting.

During the early hours of Oct. 7, an adult male was lodged in cells at the police station and charged with refusal to provide a breath sample to an officer. The 21-year-old male is scheduled to appear in provincial court on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

While on patrol later that morning an officer encountered a male youth passed out and very intoxicated. Emergency Medical Services attended to the youth who later woke up and was taken home, where he was turned over to a responsible adult.

Police responded to a report a loud party complaint. Investigation revealed that the noise was loud and disturbing in the residential area. As a result the person responsible for the property was charged under the City of Weyburn noise bylaw.

Later that evening, Weyburn Police Service received a report of a possible intoxicated driver. The driver of that vehicle was located and not impaired. There was however open liquor in vehicle and as a result a male youth who was a passenger in the vehicle was charged with a minor possessing alcohol.

As a result of the RID (report impaired drivers) program, police receive and respond to more and more alcohol related driving complaints. The program continues to be successful, in that as a result of those reports a number of impaired drivers are taken off the street.

Police attended the Tags Youth Center to speak with two male youth who had been asked to leave the property and continued to hang around outside. The boys were warned of their actions and left the area.

Weyburn Police Service members also attended to several alarm calls. The calls are generated from both residential and business properties.

During the week of Oct. 7-13, police assistance was also required at a number of motor vehicle accidents around the city.

There were 93 calls for service received by the Weyburn Police Service during the week of Oct. 1-7.
Police attended the area of the high school on Oct. 1 after receiving a complaint that a young man had jumped on the hood of a vehicle. The man was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for climbing onto a vehicle without the owner's consent and will have to appear in Court.

The driver's side window of a vehicle was smashed while it was parked on Elm Crescent on Oct. 1; the incident is under investigation.

Three vehicles were damaged after their rear driver's side windows were smashed in the northeast area of Weyburn on Oct. 2; the incidents are under investigation.

A minor accident that occurred in the downtown area of Weyburn on Oct. 2 was called into the city police. The driver's door and mirror were damaged on a parked car after it was struck by a heavy truck. No charges were laid in the accident and both parties were told to report the accident to SGI.

After receiving a report of a domestic disturbance on Oct. 2, officers attended the south area of the city. Three men and one woman were yelling at each other; it was determined that the argument stemmed from a disagreement over rent. The people involved were able to settle their argument, and no police action was taken.

Police attended a domestic dispute on Oct. 3; the caller stated that one of the people involved had a knife. Police mediated the dispute, and no charges were laid.

Staff from Victim Services found an elderly male defecating on the pad in front of the Weyburn Police Service office on Oct. 5. The man was reprimanded for his actions and was sent on his way.

A young man was found laying on the sidewalk on Oct. 6, and police were unable to awaken him due to his level of impairment from alcohol consumption. Weyburn EMS was called and managed to awaken the man, and he was taken home.

Police stopped a vehicle in the south area of Weyburn on Oct. 6, the driver had several signs of impairment. He was arrested and lodged in cells after refusing to provide breath samples. He was charged for refusing to provide breath samples and will be required to appear in court.

After receiving a noise complaint from Sixth Street on Oct. 6, a man was charged under the bylaw which carried a fine of $300.

A man attended Weyburn Police Service after having a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend on Oct. 7; while leaving the residence she kicked the side mirror off his vehicle. Investigation into the mischief is under investigation.

A man reported that his dog was attacked by another dog after it broke away from its chain on Oct. 7, and it was badly injured. The owner will be charged with having a dog that has bitten another dog, and will be scheduled to appear in court.

One of the residents from a community group home was reported missing on Oct. 7. While police were trying to locate the man, he returned home.
