Weyburn’s own Karissa Hoffart was asked if she would be willing to write an anthem for Communithon. Karissa was extremely excited and jumped on board quickly, and she has written and recorded a new anthem with beautiful lyrics.Â
The Communithon Committee is challenging all community members, organizations, and businesses to get involved with Communithon by videoing their own rendition of her anthem.
The lyrics are:
This is the year
To perform and volunteerÂ
To give back and persevereÂ
With our community strengthÂ
Our family and friendsÂ
This is your yearÂ
The lyrics are based off the theme for the 2020 Communithon, which was announced earlier this year. Residents will hear Karissa’s version played on the radio promoting Communithon, and the committee is looking for any type of recorded rendition of Karissa’s anthem to be sent in to AccessNow TV by Wednesday, Sept. 30, email address [email protected].
Then watch Communithon and see if your rendition makes it to the screen. Those chosen will be played and highlighted throughout Communithon on Access’s live stream of the event. The committee challenges you to get involved, get creative, and most of all have some fun!
The 2020 Communithon will be held at the Weyburn Royal Canadian Legion on Friday, October 23. The hours for Communithon will be 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., and at this time due to COVID-19 restrictions only volunteers and entertainers will be allowed at the Legion. Residents in Weyburn and area will have an opportunity to watch Communithon live on AccessNow TV and streamed from the and websites.
The 11 community agencies for 2020 are: Big Brothers Big Sisters Weyburn, Canadian Mental Health Association, Canadian Red Cross, Community Low Income Centre, CNIB Foundation, Envision Counselling and Support Centre, Inclusion Weyburn, Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan, Weyburn Care-a-Van, Weyburn Special Care Home Auxiliary, and Weyburn Youth Centre.
The Communithon committee welcomes community involvement and other volunteers to join the committee.
