Daryl Donovan wins second straight Frametech Classic at Woodlawn

Daryl Donovan finished five strokes ahead of Chase Gedak and Nolan Rohatyn.

ESTEVAN - For the second consecutive year, Daryl Donovan has won the men's division of the Frametech Classic at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course.

Donovan shot a 1-under-par 71 Monday in the third and final round of the tournament to finish with a three-round total of 2-under 214, five strokes better than Chase Gedak and Nolan Rohatyn. Donovan was the only golfer to finish under par for the weekend.

Jace Carlisle was fourth at 220.

Donovan, Gedak and Logan Chernoff were tied for the lead entering the final round, and several other golfers were within striking distance. But Donovan was able to remain under par despite stronger wind conditions on Monday.

Donovan is the first golfer to repeat as champion since Cody Balon won the classic in 2010 and 2012. There was no tournament in 2011 due to the flood of the Souris River that year.

And he's the first golfer to win the tournament two straight years since Parnell Pidhorny in 1994 and 1995.

Other flight winners in the men's division were: Mark Spencer, first flight, 222; Jeff Ward, second flight, 231; Ryan Stepp, third, 240; Jeremiah Schroeder, fourth, 240; Reece Kuski, fifth, 247; and Layne Wolos, sixth, 266.

Rick Hallberg won the senior men's division by shooting a three-round total of 214, which was 2-under-par. He was five strokes better than Scott Blackstock, who wound up at 219. James Gordon was third at 222 and Pat Murphy came fourth at 230.

Flight winners for the senior's event were Monte Ellingson in the first flight with a 241 and Dan Coderre in the second with a 271.

The women's event was held over two rounds on Saturday and Sunday, and Paige Wheeler was the champion.
